No login after installation

Hello !!

I made an install of XOOPS 2.0.6 without any error msgs
while installing. When I whant to log in my site I can only see the top header, footer and
not the left column with the login -
My Config : Apache 1.3.29, php 4.3.4 et MySQL 3.23.58.
the register_globals is turned on in the php.ini file
The permission are correct.
I read all the messages in this forum but I don't have the solution !!

Have you tried accessing it via http://your_site_url/user.php ?

If this opens the login page, logon. If you still don't see the personal menu, (the one that gets you to admin area), go to http://your_site_url/admin.php and then:

*1-System>blocks>login>edit and check if the block is visible on all pages;

*2-System>preferences>groups and check if you enabled the login block for the groups.

if I access in my site with http://my_site/user.php, I got the same page (only the hearder and the footer), with http://my_site/admin.php, it tells me I don't have the right to acess in this zone.

and i have the same problem,all the users c'ant log, you can test it:

it is in french, but you can understand and see my problem

I read nothing about this on french XOOPS site !

I checked your site - and the behaviour has really the same problem like I have!!

What I did until now - without any success:

- I used again all the updates from 2.0.3 to 2.0.5.2.
- I used a backup of the database from the time it was working
- I asked the provider for any changes in the server (no changes)
- I switched off an on my firewall (zonealarm)
- I deleted all my cookies

And the effect appeared during my holiday - so I am sure I did not change anything in the system and I nearly had no traffic.

So does anyone has an idea how to go on with analysing the prob??

Any hints are wellcome.

One more hint:

I deleted my coolies, to check, wether new cookie were written. And I really get a new cookie with the phpsessionid. But nor login..

So I checked the sourcecode of the page and I got the following lines:

With multiple *and* different outputs of "PHPSESSID", wether in XOOPS sites without this problem the "PHPSESSID" is all along the source of one page the same.

May be this is the reason - but what todo??

yah i have the same problem and i dont know what to to but my problem is that i can not log in only form the main page , but i know there is something wronge with it

It seem to be a not very common problem and from my impression it also has to do with the provider in a way I don´t know. Probably two or more things have to act together to produce the problem.

Obviously up to now no one on this site has a real good idea - so lets try to find out as much as possible.

So could you please have a look at the source code of your main page if there are different PHPSESSID´s and if there are *not* different PHPSESSID´s on the other pages?

Please compare it with the contents of your last cookie:

Is the PHPSESSID the same?

i think there is some thing wrong with the data base try to delete the xoops-users table in database or change the session expiresion in general performances to 9999999999999999999999999999999999
if it didnt work let me know ok?
