Whats up with sourceforge and the .tgz & .gz downloads? Can you bring back tar.gz?

Can anyone explain why the XOOPS package extensions have changed? Ive been around awhile and this is the first time
we have had these file extensions.

I cant get any packages to decompress in this format on my linux box. This is going to drive me nuts.

Does anyone have the correct ssh commands to decompress these unusual file extensions...?

What up with that????

I don't know why the extensions were changed, but it's the same format (tar+gzip). You can rename the file to .tar.gz after downloading if that makes it easier to extract.

Thanks that worked fine. Still not sure what the deal is with the devs on the .gz package....
