ok i was hoping that i could find some answers without having to post this.. i tried everything possible to make this work, everytime i get the page after filling out the database form and it says cannot write to mainfile.php i go in my ftp refresh my XOOPS folder then all of a sudden mainfile.php is at 0k when it was at 2k?? is this happening to anyone else, i deleted the folder and uploaded it about 3 times already and still nothing. please help

Is the mainfile.php CHMOD'ed to 777 prior to the installation?

nope its chmod'd to 666
when im installing at the beginning it says that mainfile.php is fine so i dunno whats wrong

just upload new mainfile.php to your dir then chmod 777 to

after installions just remove install dir then chmod 444 to mainfile.php

that will help u

Make sure you're not low on disk space, or hitting a file quota.

that didnt work and im not low on disk space either

ok thats really strange. i switced over to my servers, i was installing this for another site and it works on my server.. so im just gonna host that domain on my server, cause the other one isnt worth shit
but thanks for your help guys :)
i love XOOPS by the way its pretty damn cool :)
