Hi All,

I have a friend wanting to start a website, and one of the things he want's to be able to do is track items he's sources for his clients so the clients are always able to get an upto date report, similar to the tracking when getting a delivery through a good freight company. I of course recommended Xoops, but I don't know if such a module exists. Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, I would think of developingmy own, but this friend of mine is looking to have the site up and running in the next month or so.

Sorry, I don't understand this sentence - what items should be tracked?

Sorry for the confusion. His business will be to source items that his clients are after. These items might be anywhere in the world, so what he was wanting was a system so his clients could log into his site and be able to get an update of where there own item is at. In simpler terms I spose he is wanting personalised item tracking.

Possibly it's because I don't know the term "to source something for someone"

His clients want some things, which your friend will find somewhere and get to the client?
And the clients need to be able to login and get a status on the retrieval process? Like "Searching", "Found", "Ordered" and "In Transit" ?

Pretty much spot on Mithrandir, what you've described is right on the mark. Perhaps a small notes area for each of the stages you mentioned so special circumstances or instructions could be tracked as well.

Try wjue's Guanxi CRM site. I haven't looked closely at the CRM module and what may or may not be in there.

The big problem is probably the Customer Login, which is not a common thing in CRM (yet - but it will change when I get my degree )

I had a bit of a look at zentrack, and WOW! For a structured business this would be great! However I think it is going to be way too much overkill for what I'm looking for as my friend will be running a one man company. I think I will be struggling to apply this to his needs. I'll keep looking though

OK, I've tried breaking it down every which way, but the ZenTrack module is just too much firepower for what I need it for.

However, I have been looking at the OsCommerce module, and although it isn't what I want, there are sections of it that is exactly what I want. They are the entire customers section (customers and orders) and the Order Status section under the Localizations menu.

Is there any easy whay I can cut the featurelist down to only inlude these items? I can do basic hacks, but this feels way out of my depth.
