Hello friends, I'm at an odd point in this game. I recently moved my site from one server to another and the site is working just fine as far as appearances go. My problem is I have evidenly destroyed the default permissions that XOOPS sets up.

I ftp'd the site down to my laptop and then ftp'd the site up to the new server, exported the MySql database and then imported in on the new server edited mainfile.php and viola the site is up.

It appears that I have screwed up the permissions and I've been unable to find a document here or on the wiki page that states what the settings should be.

I understand that many files have to be writable by the server so I've chmod 755 filename. But directories may need this as well? I can still recover the information from the old server as it's not down so is there a way to keep the permissions intact and move them to the new server via fpt?

Thanks

Permissions are in the database - are you sure you got all tables moved to the new database?

no, the db is fine.

I get errors when trying to update the headlins module the error is as follows:

failed open fileModule data updated.
Updating templates...
Template xoopsheadline_index.html inserted to the database.
Template xoopsheadline_index.html recompiled.
Template xoopsheadline_feed.html inserted to the database.
Template xoopsheadline_feed.html recompiled.

Unable to write to main menu.

Rebuilding blocks...
Block Headlines updated. Block ID: 62
Template xoopsheadline_block_rss.html updated.
Template xoopsheadline_block_rss.html recompiled.

Module Headlines updated successfully.

I need to reset permissions I guess.

With a little fiddling (southern term) around with the site, I've got it back in the saddle.

What I had to do is reinstall XOOPS and then import the database AND THEN I ftp'd the theme up again (had a backup) then viloa.

Just in case someone else runs into the snag I did.....
