Good Day, Xoopsers.

I seemed to have ran into some problems with the XOOPS headline module.

I'm posting this with reference to the following two URLs.
https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=14827&forum=20#forumpost61552
https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=13971&forum=4

Everything was working fine, until today. All of the XOOPS site that I have a affected by it.

Basically, the headline block doesn't appear on the designated page. It appears only when I turn on the mysql/block debug.

Even after it does, I get an error message

Failed retrieving RSS feed from xoopsSite.Com
Could not open file:http://xoopsSite.com/backend.php

It would seem that the headline module is incapable of accessing the file generated by the backend.

However, when I copy and paste the URL onto my browser, an XML file is successfully displayed by the browser.

I'm stumped, help and pointers is greatly appreciated.

Did you try contacting the developer who made the module usually there is an email and who made it in the module file you can view it and contact them for issues.

YourHelp, I believe that the module was developed by Onakazu. However, he is better off focusing his time and effort into developing the core module than to be bothered by this.

It is in my opinion that we attempt to settle this in our own time and then forward it to his attention if a bug is discovered and confirmed.

Back to the problem at hand,

Anyone else experiencing this, I've change manipulated all the various setting available to no avail.

The debug mode(all modes) does not display anything out of the ordinary. Pointers would be appreciated.

Does anyone knows if RSS feeds require the use of any particular ports?

Update:
Guys, I've had it fixed. I hope this information will prove useful to someone. Thanks goes out to CatzWolf who addressed the solution in the following thread

https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&topic_id=14827&forum=20

Problem was, I did a search and read the thread, fault was all mine on missing out on his comment about the php function "fopen".

Future users who are hosting your own site do edit your php.ini and enable the "fopen" option.

Regards and Happy New Year.
