I have installed xcgallery in my xoops. When i tried uploading a 1600 x 1200 picture, the quality of the thumbnail is extrmeley bad. I would like to know is there anyway i can increase the thumbnail quality ??

- In general preferences of xcgallery, check if you use GD version 2 instead of GD version 1.
- 1600x1200 is a lot, imho to much, for a web picture. I resize before I upload. I'm not sure if this is realy necessary with xcgallery.

Does that mean that if you resize the picture, the quality of the thumbnail will be better ???

If you can use ImageMagick or Netpbm, I recommend you for you to use them.

Further, my issue is onlyy with 400 x 200 pics. I only get good quality when I actually click the pic to view it in a seperate window.

One point to the quality:

To hightup the quality, use GD 2 or ImageMagick or Netpbm, this gives you a better quality to your thumbs.

So test it be changing the setting in the admin section of the xcGallery which one gives you the best result.

For the GD Image, i need to install the GD Image library. I would like to know if i need to install any library for using IMageMagick or Netpbm ???

I wonder till now has any one tried out GD 2, ImageMagick and Netpbm ?? If yes, then which one come out with the best result ??

i have the same problem

i have tried with everthing image, net, gd 1 and 2 ..nothing
