If you use their advanced package you can. It offers php and mysql.

yes you can but it has an add i am working on mine....can anyone help out with what i do next to set up the modules????

Well, you need to read the install guide in the wiki on this site first. Just follow the instructions in that or read your install.html file that comes with xoops. You haven't even installed XOOPS yet, according to what I see on your site.
