Hello, I have a XOOPS 2 site running (2.0.5.1) and no matter what name you try to register with, I get this message.. ERROR: Name is reserved.


It's been happening for a while now, unfortunatley not to my knowledge, anyone have any ideas? as I am stuck.

I appreciate any help.

Is this a new install or an upgrade? Were there previous users prior to this?

Can you go to System Admin -> Preferences -> User Info Settings and tell us what is found in the text area for "Enter names that should not be selected as username"?

It was an upgrade from a 2.0.1 install that had been patched to 2.0.3 then again to 2.0.5 & 2.0.5.1

I have about 150 members. I'm not quite sure when people were no longer able to register but I imagine its been a while and i havent really dont much to my site except for the patches and upgrading my xoopsgallery and agendax modules. I also added the xoopschat module.

the text that i have for "enter names.." is:

webmaster|^xoops|^admin|^

Have you optimized your users table in your XOOPS database? You might want to check on that and also check to see if there are any errors when you check that table.

I think you're right. The last '|^' should be removed. There is a similar issue with word censoring, in that there should be no '|' at the end of the word list.

That fixed it, Thank you all so very much!! This problem has been eating @ me for a while, that would have been the last place I would have checked.

I have recently had a few comedians trying to register variations on the webmaster login name.

EG. name1, name2 etc.

Am I right in thinking then that disallowing ^name would stop this.

or should it be ^name^
