G'day all, I have the site running and am now trying to upload images to be displayed in the XOOPS gallery but get error messages saying no image uploaded. I have done a bit of reading through the XOOPS forum and now realise that I need image magic. I have searched the net looking for this but can't find it. Where do I get this and how/where do I install it??

Your help would be muchly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Booga.

imagemagick is something that must be installed on the server for it to work

something much easier to use, is NetPBM, you just unzip the files, upload them to your server somewhere, and chmod to 755 (the folder and the files)... it's easy to use, works great

checkhttp://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewsdownload&sid=9 << for all your Gallery-related needs

btw, they have imagemagick there, if you'd still like to install it, but again, it's simpler to just use netpbm (although installing ImageMagick on a webserver then makes it available to the whole server, which is useful if you have multiple sites running Gallery)

i use netpbm as well, it is much easier to install than image magic.

Ok.....you guys are champions, thankyou very much.

I have just one (probably stupid) question : what did you mean by "chmod to 755 (the folder and the files)..."??

Thanks.

unzip/untar the netpbm file, you should have a folder titled 'netpbm'

upload it to your webserver, and if you're using WS-FTP Pro, then right-click on the netpbm folder -> goto Properties

you will see Read,Write,Execute check boxes, and right above them, a Numeric Value box

change the numeric value to '755', then click OK

do the same for each of the netpbm files INSIDE the folder, *except* for the Readme file.

what this does, is make all the files executable from your server account

if you use a different ftp program, then just right-click on the files and explore your options, looking for anything that allows you to change the Read, Write, Explore options, or to change the 'chmod' value

heh, i remember that happened to a friend of mine, it's the program that you're using to extract the files...

try installing winrar (google it), use that to extract, it's never given me any problems...

i think winzip is what extracts the files in a weird way (or if you were familiar enough with linux command line, you could download and extract it on your remote acct, via ssh or telnet)

Actually, we are using winrar. Maybe we are downloading the wrong file??

we have tried:
netpbm1.1-gallery1.0-linux2.2-redhat6.2-intel
netpbm1.1-gallery1.0-freebsd4.2-intel

and both are a single file

We got these files from that page you posted above. Don't want to waste your time but if you could point us in the right direction it wuld be great.

Cheers.

ah, sorry m8, it's been months since that error happened to my friend

i followed the download urls, and as it turns out, sourceforge (or our browsers, or both) is improperly trying to send the files as .gz, but if you look at the download url, it's supposed to be .tgz

so either rename to .tar.gz or .tgz, should fix your problems
