I get following error after uploading to the module directory

I first unziped it direct on the server didn't work so I ftp'ed the whole folder from my computer to the server and I have still the same error.

Sounds like you didn't get it right

Make sure that it is only the Metacat folder within the archive you copy into the xoops_root/modules folder. So check whats is inside each folder in the archive. The folder that contains the xoops_version.php, is the one you should copy across.

Another way would be to create a new folder on the server and copy the contents into that one (the folder with the xoops_version.php that is).

Check also that you do not have a corrupt archive, that could cause that problem too

Hope that helps

I downloaded it from 3 different mirrors Phoenix, Australia... and tried all of them in several differnt ways.
Extracting zip direct on server.
FTP with CuteFTP
FTP with Dreamweaver

I can see the module in the admin page it just does not have an icon but it does have an error

Error: Module File for Not Found!

It is located at XoopsFolder/modules/metacat/

I can see the file xoops_version.php and others in that folder.

The xoops_version.php seams to be incomplete but what do I know. Here it is:

I really like what this is supposed to be good and would appreciate any help I can get.

In addition, the xoops2.com module site is full of bugs even know I am a user and I can log in I get messages that I do not have permission to do stuff. Stuff Like send PM or leave a comment.

Bunny is wondering:
ReMetaCat
50 downloads but no feedback
?

Are you stunned with awe or just unconcious or is it so confusing that you don't know what to say?

Maybe that is the reason for others as well!

Are you guys dropping that site because of the new plans at xoops.org to organize the modules or what is the problem?

Yes, we stated a while ago that the module site would be closed, all module projects however will be moved to the new module site, so developers will have a chance to continue their work somewhere.

I was under the impression that Herko had closed the site down? If not I will do it now.

Maybe that is the reason for others as well!
