Hi !

The version of newbb include in XOOPs is now out of date !! They released the 2.0.6 version of phpBB.

The 2.2 is on the way, are you willing update that version ? Do you want me to try to do such things ?

My idea:
- Modify phpBB templates to make it enter in the XOOPS template.
- Link bitween both user system...

Why ?
- More options
- More permissions

I don't think we will be integrating their version to XOOPS anymore. The mod dev team is working hard to enhance the current version included in XOOPS, including a better permissions system.

Yeap, ok, but the thing is that it already exists.. Why should you reinvent something that already exists ???

I love XOOPS because it's a melting pot from many existing software. At the beginning you choose phpBB, and you based everything on this.

I'll work on it and propose you a MODULE for that :)

Their codes changed quite a lot since 1.4.x, the version which was integrated to XOOPS, and I think it would be a lot harder to update it to their current version than adding features to our newbb module by ourselves.

I'm thinking... Why change YOUR system :)

Just developpe a new module, the only problem is to link the user system to the user system owned by XOOPS...

The admin panel will be independant, and I'll disable the parts concerning the user/groups admins which will be taken from the XOOPS User system.

I think it would be easier to expand the given newBB with more features, as to do an other integration or to build a new one.

Well Emilien, the problem with an new integration is the compatibility with given Communities ( maybe 500 User and 200o Postings ) so for updating an modified newBB is the better way.

Featurerequests are discussed at the moment in the Roadmap Thread.

Hi Team,

this makes me wonder ... have you ever considered asking koudanshi to join the XOOPS team?

I mean he is been doing lots of work with IPB and phpbb for XOOPS for a long time and the results are looking good.

Sometimes people have to be triggered and they don´t come to you.

(Though i don´t know if he would be interested but if so i think he could help you more than just lending a hand)

Just my 0.02 Cents.
