Hey there, people.

XOOPS looks dead. I'm aware of the GitHub repository and the recent commits, and I'm not here to complain.

I'm here to see if there is any interest in the reboot of XOOPS.

Do we still have XOOPS websites being maintained? Is there a desire to revive it? What kind of a niche does XOOPS fill?

Blindly following the modern specifications like PSR, and incorporating Composer or keeping up the syntax with PHP8 is not going to revive this project, I think.

So, are people still here? Do people have wishes, ideas, directions that make sense for XOOPS?

If you could make it what you want, what would it be?

Let's put our opinions in here and see where exactly we are in 2022.

If you look at the posts here and the commits on GitHub, then it should be obvious that XOOPS in not dead!

And there are plenty of XOOPS websites being maintained and new ones being developed.

Of course, it's not as active as it was 15 years ago, and we could benefit from some extra help.

Regarding the future, our goal is to transition current XOOPS 2.5.x architecture to the XOOPS 2.6.0 architecture.

As always, any help in making XOOPS better, is always appreciated!

Another project I'm working on

I make the whole site in a manageable way with the great modules of Xoops

For the image slider on the site : Slideshow Module
For the menus on the site : Mymenus Module

Xoops is a rather secure CMS.
It just needs donors to evolve faster. Fortunately, there are enough of us to keep it going. Volunteering is not dead either

Hi,

I've use other CMS but XOOPS is still my favorite and main cms that i used, One of the reason is the easier to modify the modules and themes to suite my needs

I have several active websites that i helped managed and developed using XOOPS and im very thankful to XOOPS for making website management more easier, With my limited knowledge, i try to help here and there, update some modules, tyring making my own theme and testing the core and module and report bugs

past few months in my freetime i've been learning to create my own module with the excellent XOOPS modulebuilder to create our own module https://github.com/XoopsModules25x/modulebuilder/

XOOPS it's not as active as it was in it glory days but XOOPS does the job and i will always try recommend to my friend

using XOOPS is unique and im proud of using XOOPS

wishes for XOOPS for future maybe more responsive core, responsive themes and more great modules

so for me XOOPS is not dead...Long Live XOOPS
