You might miss some files.

So please download again fresh XOOPS 2.5.6, and:

- copy all files (except the mainfile.php file, and the /install folder) to your XOOPS site

- copy again the /upgrade folder to your site

- run the upgrade

- in the end it should ask you to update the System module, so please do it as well

If you have any errors there, please report it back here.

Yes, we need to read the manuals!
That was explained on page 32-33 of the Installation Guide

I am glad that everything is working now!

As a reminder, we have publications that can be very helpful:

Re: xforum 4.13

I read the manual, but my inexperience, or rather my ignorance on the subject made me commit this primary error. But now it worked! Now I've done the test, I will make the official site.

Thanks again Mamba!

I upgraded on the web, but a problem arose. Some texts on the site were deconfigured, not appearing or letters being replaced by question marks (?), You know tell me what is the problem? For now I undid the update.
Follows a print screen of how it was.

You have problems with text encoding - the Website is probably in UTF-8, while the text in the database is still in ISO coding.

You can talk to your host to convert the database and its content to UTF-8, which would be probably the best.

If they won't do it for you, you can try this tool from XOOPS France

Re: xforum 4.13

Hello Mamba, ok?

I talked with the host support and they answered me:
"Once the database tables are in latin1 you can't change the collation of the database."
I don't know if they don't know to do or don't want. Summing up, I'll have to do this change.

Using convert_mysql tool, have I to convert the general database of the site?
Or could I just convert the web root (public_html / www)? for if a problem occurs I can revert easily

Thanks

Tell your host people to check info like this one. There are more similar...
