I just selected use custom session on my xoops 2.5.4 installation but now I can't login anymore.
Can anyone tell me I have to do to be able to login again?

I believe cookies are involved, I would try flushing cookies from your browser first.

If you change the session name make sure it is unique from anything else or it can "collide" with other sites if you are using this locally. Yes delete or clear all cookies related to the site in your browser and you will want to delete the contents of the cache files and session entries in the database.
