Hello,

I have tired of not being able to find a SIMPLE answer for this problem.

Can someone PLEASE give me step by step instructions to cure this annoying fault which prevents any installation.

I have used Xoops before, and never had any problems.

This is for Xoops 2.5.3

Language selection - Success
Introduction - Success
Configuration check - Success
Paths settings - Success (and correct)
Database connection - Success
Database configuration - Success
Configuration save - Could not copy the distribution file to mainfile.php/home/myname/public_html/main_data/hrp_data/data/secure.dist.php

I have changed all of the permissions as requested earlier in the installation, and double checked that they ARE set correctly.

I'm completely at a stop now and ready to delete the lot and try somethying else.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND HELP.

Pete

What was the solution? I am having the same problem. All paths, etc. seem to work fine. My PHP/DB/Web all set up and work fine. I double-checked all paths and permissions, and they all seem to be in order.

Still, on the Save Configuration page of the installer I get the message "Could not copy the distribution file to mainfile.php/{blah}/xoops_data/data/secure.dist.php".

What's up with this? It's frustrating! First-time user of XOOPS.

Okay, I'm not sure what the problem was. I deleted all files and tried again from scratch. It seems to work now, so all is well. Advice to anyone else would be to do the same, and pay particular attention to permissions, I guess.
