got it to work, but there is an error on the top of each page

how can i get rid of this? turning off debug mode doesn't help

It also screws up the text on the site in menues etc, doubling it in size

You have probably xdebug turned on in your PHP installation, which is not related to XOOPS. Google to find out how to turn it off.

but turning the debug off is not going to fix the issues with the text

Everything, including the menus in the left column are doubled in size.

simplywiki doesn't have a stylesheet, so that's not it

any suggestions?

The best way is to always install the modules on your local test installation, and then one by one activate them, and see which one is causing the changes.

You can also use some of the developer plugins in your browser that will show you where is the CSS file coming from. It's possible that one module is "overwriting" XOOPS CSS, and then SimplyWiki is just using it.

the problem is simplywiki

it doesn't do it with anything else. and all the modules I'm using are the latest versions

The 'latest version' doesn't declare the engine type in the sql file. Are you using 1.2 Final? It was released back in October 2011

You definitely are not using the latest version of SimplyWiki! the eregi function was removed from header.php in 2008 - there have been 3 releases since then.

FWIW - it is the xdebug message at the top of the page that is breaking the styling of your site, not SimplyWiki. As Mamba suggested, disabling that will change everything.

Upgrading to the true latest version of SimplyWiki will address the error, so you won't have to disable the debug.
