updated the "publisher" module no problem

updated the "alcohol" module, publisher clone
there were 330 errors before I hit the update button

seemed to update ok.

went to set the blocks, system crashed

tried to update the module again, got 403 - Forbidden

i was going to log out and log back in, but... when i logged out I get a white screen

Publisher in the Alcohol directory has taken down the entire website

and what are all these .svn files I'm seeing in my FTP program? they're not on my disk

1 - Your site was working and I told you by PM that it was better for you to wait for the release.
2 - I told you to update publisher, not the clones. How did you update the clones? Did you clone them on localhost before uploading with ftp?
3 - How did you get .svn files on your server. Didn't you use the "export" function?
4 - What???

I used tortise svn to download from the svn like you told me to

I got your PM AFTER you told me to update the site, where to get the files from and how to download the files

the .svn files were hidden files within the subdirectories when i downloaded them from svn

I zipped the subdir, uploaded it to my server, unzipped it, and did the update in the "Modules" section.

I changed the name of the directory on my machine to "alcohol" so it would unzip to the right subdir

uploaded it, unzipped it, and crashed the site

I've deleted the subdirs on the server for publisher and alcohol, hoping to reupload them, but even with the subdirs gone, the site is still down

Timeline:
I told you to update your publisher
I told you your site was fixed
you asked me if you still had to do publisher update
I told you to wait

Conclusion, you went ahead without reading my reply.

What you need to do now:
1 - Use the "Export" function of tortoise to get a publisher folder without .svn files.
2 - Upload Publisher folder to your site
3 - Upload and install publisher on other working site(or localhost) and clone it(alcohol).
4 - Upload the clone version to your site
5 - Update both modules and check block settings.

After I reuploaded publisher and a cloned version(alchool) I was still getting 503 error.

I've changed "modules" folder permissions from 700 to 755 and now your site is running again perfectly.

I don't know what to tell you.

Have fun.

Trabis, how can I stop the date from appearing beside each article in that New Items Block?
