email change on this site?

This site seems to be set up so users cannot update their email address. Have I missed a trick somewhere?

How do I update my address?

@greenflatdog
Yes, you are correct. Users cannot change their email address (on this site)... there is no trick. I can't change mine either.
I am not sure exactly why that's true, but I can think of a couple of non-technical reasons; security and abuse come to mind.

This is a real shame as when a user has to change their email adddress they will have to re-register with another username and then lose the continutiy benefits of notifications, my posts etc.

Opportunity for improvement?

I think if you contact Mamba with a request to change your email account he can oblige for a good reason.

Him or other admins can change it for you. I believe it is disabled for security reasons but I am sure Mamba can explain better.

I'm thinking he's pre-occupied (duh! can you imagine his to-do list), because I've already asked.

I have disabled the user to change their email mainly because I don’t want people to abuse my site. Otherwise people will change their email address and Xoops can't verify their email id.

I will only enable it only if Xoops can verify the new address (by some means of activation mail for user to click)

The site Admin can always change your email id (with justification).

Hope this helps.
