Hello. I just purchased a shared hosting plan with Vodien my local webhost. I managed to install Xoops through the webhost's cpanel Fantastico but after installation, I could not find information on how to install modules to my web URL.

When I tried downloading the AMS module by NovaSmart, it just went to a normal pop up link that says I need to download the zip file. But shouldn't the module be downloaded to my webhost automatically?

How do I download and install modules into my website?

Thanks.

Hello, thanks for the info. I unzipped AMS module and saved it on my computer but when I tried to upload the module to my website directory under Xoops, it was a mess. There are many many folders inside AMS module and each folder has many many files. The upload icon for my website directory can only upload one file by one file and not by the entire folder.

I need another way to upload the module to my website directory.

Anyone has any good idea?

Thanks.

Hello. I downloaded FileZilla and used FTP to upload the AMS module folders and files into my website directory. It was successful BUT when I went to the modules administration page, the AMS module was not listed. I could not find it appearing anywhere on my Xoops administration pages.

Can anyone help me please?!

You have to copy the whole AMS directory to under the /modules directory, so it is:

/modules/AMS

Hello Mamba,

It worked! Well I realised I should not just look for files named with xoops and then go in it and find /modules. I went straight with the first /modules I saw from the parent directory for my website. That's when it worked. Thank you so much!

Now, is it possible to put in Paypal to every article so that my writers can charge for their articles?

I want to make an article directory that can get buyers to come and purchase articles with usage fees and then for sellers/writers to post their articles for sale.

Is it possible?

I'm still trying to orientate myself with the AMS module.

Thanks again!

I am not aware of a module that can charge Paypal fees for different authors.

Somebody would probably need to customize an existing module to make it happen.

Or you could be the one charging the money and then pay out to your article authors.

Maybe somebody can come up with a better idea on how to accomplish it.

Hello Mamba,

great idea: I should really collect the fees and then pay the article writers.

problem is if the writers ask for sales reports...how do I give them sales reports? I mean I'm just wondering. This is a very valid question I feel.

Thanks again!
