So i used Xoops long long ago (2005-2007) when I switched to SMF.. SMF seemed easier for end users... however after switching, my site had low usage as many of the users (a small targeted group) found that it was too difficult/troublesome to use...

also, the smf licence was in a mess, making it hard for people to release bridges/... so finding a facebook connect for SMF proved to be really difficult...

back here, i found out about a FB connect plugin for xoops.. http://www.esxoops.com/modules/wfdownloads/singlefile.php?cid=1&lid=70 is it good? i don't mind losing all my current userdata if they could register using fb easily...

what changes are there since xoops 2.0/2.2? (if i'm not wrong i used xoops 2.2.3 last time...)

also, is it possible to migrate my smf site back to xoops?

anyway what modules should I install? i plan to run a small news/forum/download (legal stuff) site...

last time i used
news 1.44
cbb 3.02
protector 3
(quite a few more...)
(cant rmb what else.. haha)

Welcome back!

There have been many changes since 2.0/2.2, especially in the Admin GUI, which hopefully you'll find positive.

I am not sure about the FB Connect module, as I didn't use it, but the Aitor creates good quality modules, so I am pretty confident that it will work.

CBB 3.08 is still compatible with XOOPS 2.5.0.

But you can also try the 4.03 version being developed by XOOPS Germany.

X3 is planned for December, so I wouldn't wait.

oh.. ok.. so what are the few recommended modules which would meet my needs? mostly is the news, forum and downloads...

also, seems like most of the modules are made for xoops 2.0-2.3? are they compatible with xoops2.5?

At this moment I would recommend:

News 1.66
CBB 3.08 or 4.03

actually i cannot find much info on TDMDownloads... coz the site where it came from is down (probably gone)...

btw is this the default theme for xoops? coz there seem to be a bug in the nav bar at the top of the page (literary at the top of the page..) can't seem to click on any of the options... (have to navigate it with the keyboard)

i am using chrome 9.0
