After much search and frustration and reading further on on JQuery and what it can do, I have found what I was looking for.

HereI was able to install and make it work on a new site I am creating, the solution looks elegant and functional.
I am using derwood 10 theme as a trial . you can see what my progress on the site is at
Aquijuarez.
If all goes as planned I will be creating a theme with JQuery functionality on the menu.
I will of course include a tutorial on how to modify the menu and implement it.
