Hi there, i'm news with xoops!

I would like to create a download file's website to share my passion for open source software, for example a website similar to fileforum http://fileforum.betanews.com/ with a three-column theme, the categories on the left, the news files on the center and another column on the right.

Based on your experience xoops is a valid cms for this purpose?

You could give me some tips on which modules and installed to start?
