I've just looked at WordPress TinyMce editor and there is no languages, only in few plugins but it's maybe 7-8 lang files, not 30 etc.

The question for Aphex: How non-english WP users use TinyMce? I'm still not sure about your statements :)

Also in WP there is gzipped version of TinyMce .js file. AFAIK that was an option in TinyEditor module by McDonald.

TinyEditor was made by Frankblack!

Anyway, our desire is to have TinyEditor included with XOOPS, as it acts like a "XOOPS Module", and is easier to configure.

Frankblack was going to update TinyEditor to the newest TinyMCE, but I don't know how far he is.

One thing...if they can do it then i don't see why XOOPS can't...since current core dev team is working in inherited code, might be that interaction between editors and XOOPS wasn't done the best way back in the days so with time, core bits and pieces are due to be revisited.

Don't get me wrong, me like trabis... don't need a fancy editor as we write all the codes from memory and all tags and such, so missing the wysiwyg won't be a big deal for most of us. I'm simply giving you scenarios that i had to face in the past

It's a big deal for me. Not for me... i know html very well, but for clients. How to tell them: "It's simple. Just use type

and and
tags." Some of them are more than 55yrs old

I know :)

Also if upgrade logs are up to date on the work of the core might be considered an "upgrade package" which will upload you just the stuff that's been modified + extra files if any, which will also save you some grief of several mb to upload; and a full package for new installs

Yes, we need a WYSIWYG editor with XOOPS. One that is centrally supported and it works with every XOOPS module without problems.

So might be like this, add a new admin feature "manage editors" where you get the option which to install and which to activate as well as which groups can use this or that editor. That way you're not forced anymore to install all together and install can be done without where needed/wanted

if im not mistaken
in the XOOPS alpha 2.5 i see the option..to choose editor but not group

any chance to see this in XOOPS 2.4x next release ?

No, 2.4.x is now in a maintenance mode, i.e. only bug fixes but no real new features.

So please wait for XOOPS 2.5...

You can delete editors if you don't need them before instalation.
