The 'welcome' thread? Hmmmm.

Now that is a clue I can use. How about instead of messing with the code, I just turn off the welcome thread?!?

So the error was NOT a permissions error.

That explains why the test account still would not work even with 'webmaster' privs.

The 'welcome thread' gets run on the first visit of a user to the forum.

So the problem did not show up when in 'guest' mode, or with any other account that had already posted - just with new members !

I guess this bug still needs to be fixed. But I can return on the site now that we have a temporary fix in place.

If I had to guess, the problem would have started for me around Feb 26th -

That is the date of the last successful 'new member' post using the 'welcome' thread.
