XOOPS 2.3
NewBB 2.02
EXTCAL 2.22

My system time at the header is correct with hours/minutes/seconds.

When anyone posts to Forum or Calendar and rest of modules the time is off by 6 hours. My time zone is GMT -6:00 in system General Settings.

How do I get that time to show when someone makes a post or uploads an event?

I am sure it is an easy thing, I just can't find anything searching here and in all the modules settings.

Thanks for any help

The server timezone should be set to where ever your server is located.

So if your server was placed in Houston Texas and your actual location is the the UK.

Server location: -6 GMT
Default timezone: 0 GMT

Sometimes times will differ due to time zones depending if you are logged in or not.

For Example:
Server Time Zone: -6
Default Time Zone: -3
Your Time Zone: +4

And you are logged out the Default Time Zone is used, , which will make you around 8 hours behind the time, but if you log in your time zone will be used.

I understand what you say, but that doesn't seem to show my issue.

On my main page the current time and date is under my top banner - it is correct. But when I post, or anyone else, the time is wrong.

I posted an event to the calendar at 9:03 AM and this is what shows:
"Posted by Larry on Thursday 12th of March 2009 04:03 PM "

This is the same if I reply to a thread on my forum also.

I keep looking in preference in Admin area, but I don't see how to edit it.

Thanks for the quick reply !! Much appreciated.

Okies, It looks lkes your server time etc are out of wack..

Once in the admin area, look to the left, you will see either a system icon or a system link.

Depending on which XOOPS version you are using you will be taken to the admin prefs page or a quick links will show.

Look through them till you see 'Preferences', click on that.

Once you are at the Site prefences, click on the General Settings' and .....once there look down the list for:

Server timezone: (Down 6 Settings); And:
Default timezone: (right underneath Server Timezone)

Select the nearest area in the Sever pulldown menu to match that of your server.

And Select the nearest time zone to which you want to be the default. So if say you're in the UK, select GMT Greenwich....

Normally your user can select which time zone they are logged in, the default will show if they are not.

Hope that helps?

You are using the latest XOOPS and latest ExtCal but a very old version of Newbb.

You can update to CBB 3.08 - this is the current version of the newbb module. Get it from here:

Thank you for the welcome, and Thanks again for the help.

If I upgrade to a newer version will it mess with my templates and data that is there? What is the differences - I am using this for a small Corvette Group so not hundreds of users.

So far I have to say that I have never seen such a user friendly install and setup of various modules. I have tried other OpenSource products over many years, and they NEVER installed so easily.

The only templates and information that could be changed is within the forum itself. Normally the templates will be updated and the information that could change is to do with the forum blocks and that is all.

Basically, create a backup of your XOOPS database if it worries you any :)

Just rename the newbb folder and upload the new one, that means you have a backup available :)
