Last week seems to have been a buggy week for our site.

Some users are complaining that the site is very sluggish.

We have had some new users randomly activated even though we use manual activation and one person is in charge of doing it.

New users are finding their passwords don't work after activation and they have to use the Lost Password feature to get them working again.

One new user account shows only a blank page when you view the account. The user is getting a blank page also. No one else has complained of this yet but she is a brand new user who had the password problem mentioned above. I even moved her to a different user group to see if that made a difference. I do have the profiles set so that anon users can't view member profiles.

I had not made any changes to the site prior to these issues cropping up. Over the weekend I viewed some setting but could find nothing amiss. I was trying to determine if I applied the security patch but can't find the version checker to see if I did already. I sort of remember already doing it.

Regarding your site being sluggish, there are some items within the wiki and within these forums that will help you speed up your website.

Xoops does allow the user to cache a lot of the site from the admin area. Also I would empty the cache folder now and then to stop the cache folder getting to large.

As for your the blank page, there is two ways you can find out the reason for this, one, look through your php error log for any errors at the time they said they tried to log in and see if you can find anything related to this.

Or, you could enable php error reporting within the site and ask the user to report any errors that it may show.

Without some sort of error report from yourself here at this forum, there isn't really much we can do to debug this situation and I don't think stabbing in the dark with produce much either at this point. :)

Here is a debug when trying to view a particular user profile:

Fatal error: Call to a member function getVar() on a non-object in /home/crabstrt/public_html/xoops/modules/profile/class/field.php on line 230
All errors (2) queries (49) blocks (17) extra (0) timers (5)

Do I empty the cache from within XOOPS or access the cache folder on my server and empty it?

From what I can see, the line you are stating doesn't actually tie up with anything I have with the current version of this module. I even checked older versions and still didn't match anything I have here.

But, what I can see is that there might be an issue of an object not being passed into a 'function' that is close to that line number. It maybe right that the object is empty and that is is why you are getting the error. But, until I can get a version of this module you have, I will be shooting in the dark trying to find a fix for it.

Was there a module you wanted me to look at too?
