Variable width up to a maximum?

Hi everyone,

I've recently bought a new 22" widescreen monitor for my PC which runs at 1680 x 1050 px. Very nice, and the extra real-estate is most welcome

However, I'm less happy with the appearance of my XOOPS website on it. I'm using a variable-width theme and with the browser maximised it looks a bit "odd".

Is there a way of making the theme-width variable below a browser-window size and fixed-width above it, e.g. 1280px?

This would make the website fill the screen upto widths of 1280px but the website wouldn't fill windows bigger than this.

Can it be done?

use CSS property max-width

max-width1280px;

altho some older browsers don't support it, firefox does, not sure about IE though. javascript was need to replicate it for IE.. although i have never tested with later versions of IE.

Thank you
