What's theme name ? And what is your XOOPS version ?
About Morphogenesis, some XOOPS files (Core) have to be change. Those files are available here :
Xoofoo.org• for XOOPS 2.0.14 to 2.0.17, you have to download
"Hack Core (2.0.17) for Mor.Pho.GEN.e.sis". 4 files are :
- /include/common.php
- /include/functions.php
- /include/site-closed.php
- /language/english/theme.php
(other files are not strictly necessary)
• for XOOPS 2.0.18 / 2.0.18.1 / 2.0.18.2, you have to download
"Hack Core (2.0.18 et 2.0.18.1) for Mor.Pho.GEN.e.sis". 2 files only :
- /include/common.php
- /language/english/theme.php
• for XOOPS 2.3.x.. there is also a package but I'm not sure that it works fine with 2.3.RC2 (we are waiting for Kris_fr... still in vacation, happy man)

About your installation trouble, perhaps your theme had been made for an old version of XOOPS (2.0.14...). So you have to update it with the right package
