Most XOOPS users use one of three Forums:
1. Newbbex from
http://xoops.instant-zero.comThis is probably the "simplest" of the Forum modules, but may well lay claim to being currently the newest in stable-release form, having been updated for XOOPS 2.3.x
Instant Zero's community forums unsurprisingly use Newbbex
Easy, fuss-free installation.
2. CBB 3.08 from
http://xoopsforge.comRequires Frameworks (see this site's news for latest release) and xoopeditors (part of the 2.3.0 "core" download). Possibly needs more maintenance as you'll have to keep up to date with Frameworks and xoopseditor releases as well as module updates.
Want to see CBB 3.08 in action? You're using it!
Soon to be updated to CBB4.0
3. d3Forums from GIJOE (
http://xoops.peak.ne.jp/)
Probably the most advanced in concept, integrating the comments system into the Forums.
Installation can be tricky as you have to upload parts of the module to different places. Very secure and GIJOE writes fine code.
Obviously, GIJOE's Forums are this module.
All three are fully integrated into the XOOPS core and will display the stuff you mentioned. All three will take on your site's theme characteristics. All three are actively developed and maintained - something you should always look for when chosing a module.
Newbbex and CBB's devs are active members of the XOOPS community and post on here very regularly. GIJOE doesn't post on here but he's easily found!
Which is best? That's for you to decide
