Have a serious permissions problem which has completely ruined my site. I am hoping someone can help me.

I stupidly changed the permissions on the public_html file to 777 as the script I was trying to install said I had to.

Now my XOOPS site has come up with: A file permissions error has occurred. Please check the permissions on the script and the directory it is in and try again.

I have tried copying another XOOPS sites permissions and that will not work. Can anyone help me? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance
