Sounds like you beed a content module.

Try wfsections (search on here for a link) or try SmartSection 2.13 from http://www.smartfactory.ca/.

There are others, too, and I'm sure folks will chip in with their recommendations.

Add a "custom block" and place it in the centre position. Go to Admin>blocks and make your own

Okay, it's relatively straightforward.

By default, your site's index page is called "top page". The content of your "top page" id set in Admin>blocks. You can add blocks from modules or make your own "custom blocks" (where you make the content).

Alternatively, you can set one of your installed modules to be your home page. Set it in admin>preferences.

If you want to add lots of pages then you'll need a content module as per my earlier post.

The main menu will automatically build as you install modules or you can use a module such as "MultiMenu" to build your own custom menus.

thats not the way XOOPS works! Its a cms and not a static webpage! In order to add content you must save it on the db first unless you use a content module like 'content' wich can wrap html files in an Iframe. An alternative to this you could add a custom block and paste the html code into it. From its properties you can set where to show it and in which order. You will have to do a little digging in the forum, it will help you get started with XOOPS and its workarounds :).
