You have to copy the file XOOPS_ROOT_PATH/modules/sitemap/xml_google.php to XOOPS_ROOT_PATH

After that tell google the URL of the xml, i.e. http://latulipano.com/site/xml_google.php

Now google accept sitemap file under any directory in your site, so you don't need to move it to root directory.

Read this from google help:
Quote:
Unsupported file format

Some things you might check are:

That the file uses the correct header. For a Sitemap file, the header can look like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">
For a Sitemap index file, the header can look like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<sitemapindex
xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas<wbr>/sitemap/0.9">
That the namespace in the header is "http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9". Note that this must end in 0.9. If it ends in .9, you'll see an error.

That each XML attribute is enclosed in either single quotes (') or double quotes (") and that those quotes are straight, not curly. If you use a word processing program, such as Microsoft Word, you may find that it inserts curly quotes.

Hi Mowaffak,

Thanks for the tip.

What did you change to the xml_google.php in order to make it can be directly accessed viahttp://www.mysite.com/modules/sitemap/xml_google.php

Without modification it said
Quote:

Don't call this file directly

TIA

Hi Mowaffak,

I've just tried to use the XOOPS_URL/modules/sitemap/xml_google.php as site map. Failed!

Google said
Quote:

Indexed URLs in Sitemap Help

Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit.

Are you sure that file for adding to google webmaster center not for direct browsing.??

I don't see the difference between directly browsing and google's crawling. The return must be the same, i.e. Don't call this file directly

I am using sitemap 1.30 too. (from GIJOE's site)

You are showing me the usage of XOOPS_URL/xml_google.php. It's ok. I known this.

I wanted to know if it's really OK with the XOOPS_URL/modules/sitemap/xml_google.php. I want to confirm that what you stated in the post #3 of this thread is not true.

Thanks

Thanks avtx30 for this note, I was talking in general about adding stiemap file that found in subdirectory, this was not allow at the paste.

Any way, I remove module/sitemap/xml_google.php from my webmaster center.

Thank you again.
