Hi Guys,

well after many, many long days & nights I am ready to replace my existing site with the XOOPS one.
Q. How do I do it? Do I re-direct into thew XOOPS folder or do I take the XOOPS folder contents & step up a platform ie. do not have the XOOPS folder with everything in it?

TIA

Richard

If you server supports that, then the easiest way is to redirect/forward your domain to the XOOPS directory. I have couple of domains on 1and1, and it works for me seemless.

The good thing is that you don't have to spend time copying files and databases around, and then testing again.

Hi,

no I didn't mean a url re-direct...

Do I take all the contents out of the XOOPS folder & put that straight onto the public_html folder and change the mainfile.php to suit...

define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH', '/mnt/vol1/home/c/a/******/public_html');

('XOOPS_URL', 'http://www.mysite.com');

loosing the /xoops

TIA

It's entirely up to you and your needs.

If this is the only website running in your server-space that yes, I would do as you suggest and make your webspace root directory your xoops_root.

Me? I run two sites from my webspace so I use subdomains for them, i.e.

http://site1.myspace.com/ points to http://www.myspace.com/site1/

and

http://site2.myspace.com/ points to http://www.myspace.com/site2/

I like things nice and neat, though
