Forum module - change default thread presentation?

I am running XOOPS 2.0.16 with the Version 1 newbb Forum which comes with it.
I would like the default message layout to be 'flat', not 'threaded' so it looks like the forum on xoops.org (ie full messages presented sequentially).
Can I change this easily, or would upgrading enable me to set the default? If so, is CBB (newbb) 3.0.8 the correct upgrade?

Upgrade to the latest is a good habit

I don't remember that XOOPS 2.0.16 had newbb with it as default. Where did you get that?

Hmm... Maybe it didn't come with it. Must have downloaded it separately.
I take your general point about upgrading, but would CBB (newbb) 3.0.8 allow me to set the default view?

Yes, you can change the setting from the Preferences page for admins.
