I use XOOPS 2.0.17 (and protector 3.02)

Banner display was activated. 3 banners were active (banners of mine, not really advertisement).
A user told me that other banners (advertisement for emule for instance) appear in the banner place. He sent me a screen shot.
I de-activated banner display, and all banners (mines and the other ones) have disappeared.

What is happening?
How can I get rid of these "clandestine" banners ??
does it imply some external code gets mixed with my site code ??!

Thank you in advance for any help.

Are you using the XOOPS core banner system or is it another banner module.

When you view the banners and clients in admin - do the other banners (besides yours) show there?

No they don't : neither as active current banners nor as finished banners.

Then I would suspect your existing banners have been compromised in some way - I recommend you delete them so they are no longer in your database and remove the clients, too. An examination of your server logs might be worth the effort.

Hi,

maybe:

- the user has some spyware on his computer that replaces the baners;

- the users ISP replaces the baners...

In both cases it is interesting what the adres of the image is.

Yes rw-banner is great for banner management I have test it locally on XOOPS 2.0.17.1 and it worked great. Think there was one problem with one of the bloack types, but the rest works great. Can Someone please take over this module, it has been a while with no updates. Am sure it can be improved also.
