What would it require to make the "recent comment" block display the comments more like the forum. Such as if something has 5 comments, it would display the title of that comment and then group all comments on that particular item together. The goal of this would be the ability to display comments on more items instead of having all of your recent comments be about the same posted item. Would this be very difficult to achieve?

Any suggestions?

That is what d3forum provides you with its Comment Integration feature. You can comment everywhere, d3forum will collect them to its proper forums.

For example, comment about GIJOE's works are collected here: http://xoops.peak.ne.jp/md/d3forum/index.php?forum_id=9

Interesting. I'm going to attempt to use that while still keeping cbb as my main forum as I've grown quite fond of it. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, you can use d3forum for comment integration only. You can install it with any directory name you wish, "comments" for example.

When you get in love with d3forum, you can switch from CBB to it easily with the built-in import function.

Have fun!

That's an interesting thought. I, too, like CBB much better. Thanks for the idea.

Unfortunately the d3forum module displays the comments exactly the same way as the core "recent comments" blocks. The "recent topics/posts" blocks from the d3forum are still one for every new comment so it doesn't compile them to only show the replied topic only once with a link to see all comments on that item.

I think you can achieve that by modifying the templates of d3forum.

Sounds like a good idea, but how to do it is another story. From what little I can find at GIJoe's site, you have to modify the templates of each and every module on your site, and the instructions are not clear as to where to put the code he gives. And what about modules not specifically mentioned? How are those templates modified?

And I hope the comment import is a one time thing at the first and not for every comment.

All in all, it doesn't look so easy.

Well the modifying of the templates really doesn't seem to be the problem. It still generates a new topic for each comment unless someone specifically clicks on "reply" to a users specific comment at least from what I could tell after looking at the specific forum after doing the import of a module.

I didn't try to create a new comment to see how it would list them. Maybe the problem is in the importing, perhaps if the first comment to an item was used through the d3forum comment integration all of the comments on that item would stay under one topic. I will experiment with this and report what I find.

HUM, got to host this image somewhere else.

The block on your right does that.
I´ll release this module soon.
