also on some setups you may need to set/change the owner of files (chown), but as part of the site is working, probably that is not the problem...
..

Normally this are made by .htaccess, or index.ext missing.

if index.php is there then it should work.

Just wondering in case I ever hit the same issue.


But the forum page works and the index.php is readed so there is not a index.ext missing either.

But that forbiden page... hum, yes maybe file permissons.

I'm not saying the ext is missing, but if the server is not set-up correctly, then it may not recognise index.php as a default extension, so it looks for index.html and when it's not there it will give a forbidden to prevent directory viewing.

I used to have this issue with shared hosts a long time ago before running getting our own servers.

There are of course other causes as mentioned above.

Thanks a lot to everybody for the suggestions, its realy appreciated

Tom, you were spot on Apache needing changing to find index.php instead of html.

Now all is ok

I was lost so thanks again!

Ha! Both. I'm in the education business, the website is my job, its for Internatonal Students planning to Study in Britain

But of course I like the UK as well (from Liverpool)
