IRC sounds like a plan. It beats a long list of contacts in MSN or ICQ^^

IRC is ok when i figure out how too use it, yet main point is instant messaging for developers to coordinate ideas…..
Also for a more personal relationship between many of us who care about XOOPS as to discuss problems, ideas and fix these as we did a lot of this morning

+1 from me as well. We could even add a web client for the channel. freenode is a great place for FOSS projects, quite a lot have channels there.

Register your IRC nick:
/msg nickserv register

/msg nickserv set hide email on

Then set the email address:
/msg nickserv set email

Joining a channel was the one missing from these main instructions:

/join #xoops

Ok the IRC chat room though a nice idea is also a pain and after chatting with people who we now feel closer to on IM this morning, the chat room idea just makes us feel further apart…..

If we use a chat room for support also, some of the things said, will need repeating multiple times and people will react differently depending who else is there….

Having a permanent IRC chat is still a nice idea to show a community…..yet half the time people have real lives also which with IM or our forum, allows for communication in-between what we are doing…..

So please join on IM, its easier and then if either of us is online, we can see this and can communicate like friends do

I prefer the forums primarily, but I favor irc over IM as it is more public and you only have to have one protocol to manage :) . Most of the projects I have been involved with or use have a channel on freenode, from the small to the large.

Of course, if the channel is small and quiet....
