News for specific groups

Hi,

I've been looking, and haven't able to find a news module that lets you set permissions for individual news stories. For example, a news item that only the members of the "Group b" can see.

Ideally, when posting a news item, at the bottom it would show a list of groups that person belong to, and they can choose which groups can see the story.

Any ideas?

News 1.55 from Instant Zero does exactly what you want

Thanks, but I still don't see how this module does it.

The submit news page looks just like the old News module...

I can see that you can set permissions per topic, but not per story.

Am I missing a configuration option somewhere?

You are right.... my mistake - I read "story" as "topic".

create multiple topics of the same name. then assign permissions for those topics.

that way when a person from groupb posts, he only has permission to submit in those topics + he will only see those articles in those topics...

it's a workaround anyway, but a little more work admin side.

permissions on stories could be added by hacking the module a bit, wouldn't take all that much work just to add a group select for each article.

Smartsection has permision per article...doesn't it?!

SmartSection seems to allow permissions per story when you post from the administrative interface, but not from the regular submit article form which users would see...

Maybe after a nap I'll try to tackle adding the group option on the submit form.

I decided to just make topics for each group, and set permission accordingly...

I tried creating the topics for each group, but it doesn't seem to work. In the news 1.55 module I have a topic (News) with a subtopic for News per group:

-News
--News group 1
--News group 2
--News group 3
--News group 4
--News group 5
--News group 6
--News group 7
--News group 8

I set the submit and view permissions so that all can post and view news in the main News topic (as for general news) and only their corresponding subtopic (private group news).

The problem is that people don't seem to have any access to the subtopics (post or view). They can view news from the main topic, but none of the subtopics (I get the "you don't have enough permissions" page).

Any ideas?
