Please forgive me if this is a stupid question!

I am just wondering which is the latest version of XOOPS to use?

Is it XOOPS 2.0.16 or XOOPS 2.2.4? XOOPS 2.2.4 has the higher number of revision so is it a latest version? Could somone please let me know. Thanks

They are two different branches of the XOOPS CMS, but its highly highly recommended you use the 2.0.x branch for the itme being.

The 2.2.4 branch made some "drastic" changes to the XOOPS Core and although it was a good idea, it created some problems/bugs.

Bottom line, stick with 2.0.x. (I believe 2.2.x is actually newer, especially with the 2.2.5-beta in SVN)

You are correct. But I believe that XOOPS should either drop 2.2.4 or merge them (I favour Merging for the persistant object handler if nothing else ).

This confusion has been an issue for a long time and needs clearing up.

The Handler was introduced by Mithy and gives a greater amount of flexibility to developers when dealing with MySQL Queries in their classes.

Rather than having to keep writing the same query over and over again. So any module could easily use it to insert, delete and update items within the database.

It would use the dirty vars within the xoopsObject and use them to create the sql query dynamically. It's a nice class but it does have its drawback and bugs. i.e. joins can be a pita.

That's it in its simplist form. lol

Hope that helps lol
