I see this as a 'domain site ownership' issue.

Xoops.org cannot legally engage in ANY commerical business or openly support one commerical site over the other. IF anything is sold on a site it is considered commerical.

Letting the sites spin off that are commerically inclined and pulling xoops.org in to maintaining the core WITHIN xoops.org is prudent in my opinion.

The community is free to build whatever they want where ever they want it EXCEPT on the domain property of xoops.org.

This fight is all about, offical and unofficial, without regard of the charter by which xoops.org is obligated to operate under. Opensource code, FREE as in no charge, and available to all equally.

Module repository outside of xoops.org with no limits, build it and they will come.

Just my opinion.

I agree with you that all these discussions are at least "slowing down" the uprising of Xoops. My 2 cents:

DJ injected new energie into the XOOPS project, you can't ignore that, but I guess he didn't think that taking the temporary lead involves that much work as it is. Maybe he made a mistake by not including Tom. Let's await dj's explaination.

Look whats important here is the project, I can live to deal with be treated like S**te, lets just move onwards shall we and see where we are in a years time.

This is not a fight, and it's not all about being official or unoffical, are you not reading what I'm writing?

I see you made a correction to your earlier post, but most of it is still your initials BS.

OPEN SOURCE does not have to be free, just means it's open, people can still charge for development, download, themeing, etc, etc, and the XOOPS project can make money, they have overheads to pay for.

Why the hell you brought a commercial thing into this conversation I really don't know.

This is not for this discussion.

Thank you for this, and I'm sorry I had to reply once again, but what BS is saying really has no relevance here, but needed to be addressed.

I wasn't addressing how you were being treated. I am in no position to know. I was addressing the official unofficial status of xoopsinfo and xoopswiki xoops-end-user.com [EDIT ADDON: xoopspro.com] etc., down the line as opposed to dev.xoops docs.xoops etc., down the line.

Module developers may charge as they wish, what the market will bear, as long as they leave the initial GNU license in place. BUT NOT ON XOOPS.ORG REALESTATE.

I accept, as a community member I have absolutely NO say in what will or will not be done on xoops.org realestate.
The same as xoops.org has NO say in what will be done on xoops-end-user.com.

James had the keys, he turned them in.
It is as simple as that.

When phppp assumed the leadership all xoopers want changes and much illusion arrived at the community. It seems that now it is not pleasing to speak of problems or errors because all we want results.
If, all we want results but,
why do not to be right that the community can to be noticed the errors and be discussed?. In three weeks there were many changes, and of course, everything has not been positive.

I know there are still many things that need to be discussed and agreed upon - but I am more confident with this project then I was a year ago.

If things can be improved further - better still.

My opinions and statements have been made, so I won't keep on at them.

I believe Time can be a healer, this new management is still in it's infancy, and yes mistakes will be made, but it's how the mistakes are dealt with that will show the standards of these people and the outcome.

If they are ignored and not addressed, then this will be a different matter.

If the mistakes are dealt with promptly, recognised, and confronted, then thing will hopefully improve.

I wish to be part of the solution, and I'm sure many others do too.

I have to agree with David, there are things that still need discussion, but more importantly acting upon, and I do feel more comfortable that progress is being made no that a year ago.

But as I've shown before I still have issues and concerns.
