Protector 3 log entry: what does it mean?

Just curious about this, i.e. I have often wondered what this means:

URI SPAM /register.php SPAM POINT: 101

I know what "URI SPAM" means (google is your friend ) and assume that "register.php" refers to an attempted spam through that file.

My question is about "SPAM POINT 101".........does it mean that there were 101 attempts to spam/hack on this one occasion?

They didn't get through or manage to register any accounts, so a "big up" for the 2.0.16 XOOPS core, GIJOE and Protector 3.02

I believe there were 101 URLs in the post to register.php. You can adjust the threshhold in the preferences and when you do, you will see the SPAM POINTS logged change.

@JAVesey,

Do you also have the plugin postcommon_post_deny_by_rbl.php enabled?

See manual.

Quote:
= Using filter-plugin =

You can put a filter-plugin in XOOPS_TRUST_PATH/modules/protector/filters_enabled/

There are two plugins in this archive.

- postcommon_post_deny_by_rbl.php
an anti-SPAM plugin.
All of Post from IP registered in RBL will be rejected.
This plugin can slow the performance of Post, especially chat modules.

- postcommon_post_need_multibyte.php
an anti-SPAM plugin.
Post without multi-byte characters will be rejected.
This plugin is only for sites of japanese, tchinese, schinese, and korean.

If you want to turn the plugin on, copy the file in filters_disabled into filters_enabled.

Not at the moment, mainly because of this note:

I'll give it a go when I get home this evening (I don't have FTP access anywhere else).

Thanks for reminding me of this.

I have it installed the RBL plugin and i havent seen any slowness in the performance of posts.

i tested out on my test site first before applying it and it seemed fine to use it.

Okay.... I've copied the file from "disabled" to "enabled".

Had a look at it and the php file contains this code:

// RBL servers (don't enable too many servers)

$rbls = array(

'niku.2ch.net' ,

'sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org' ,
#        'list.dsbl.org' ,
#        'bl.spamcop.net' ,
#        'all.rbl.jp' ,
#        'opm.blitzed.org' ,
#        'bsb.empty.us' ,
#        'bsb.spamlookup.net' ,

I assume that the enabled servers are those without a "#" - has anyone enabled any of the others?
