No 2.3 alpha is what it says an alpha, which is not for use on a production site.

If your on 2.2, then the latest current release is 2.5

There is a change coming, I would advise you just hold on a few days to read more about the changes.

If there is a change within the next few days then I will wait a few days and see what happens,is there a current topic about the new change that I could keep my eye on?

I doubt there will be a new version within the next few days. If you have XOOPS 2.2.x, I recommend upgrading to 2.2.5-RC2, which you can get here.

There will be some news release over the next couple of days giving information on xoops, not a code release, but this should give you a little info on whats changing.

Until the future releases, your current options are to upgrade to 2.2.4 (I think is stable) or 2.2.5 RC2.
