SMF is an excellent forum software: http://www.simplemachines.org/

There was once a move in creating an smf forum

http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/?smf2xoops

any idea what happened to this?

I know there is an attempt at an smf bridge but its just not stable or integrated enough

The "simple-xoops" is a XOOPS on the basis of XOOPS 2.2.5 and there also the SMF is as module.

I provided English language package yesterday for simple-xoops version 0.7.8

Those will surely soon also be thereby. At present are parts of simple XOOPS only in German language.

Is there a way to convert cbb to smf? Could you make a converter?

At present there is still no possibility for it. But one could surely provide a script. Question asks the user @Alfred on simple-xoops.de

simple-xoops looks interesting, it just makes me wonder more of what is wrong with the XOOPS community that those developing and creating cannot stick together to make ONE decent XOOPS cms with modules and themes for all.

I really like smf, started using it after I lost my site to hackers, it has a great gui and would like to integrate it into my reconstrcted XOOPS site...but its no go back to the geeky looking CBB and asking those that re registered to register again!

I agree. I wonder why we are not adults enough to federate our energies, when i see that dispersion (Zarilia, XoopsCube, Xoops, Simple Xoops). Is it too much to ask what is the core dev team currently working on, when we will have 2 lines of news after 6 months of no information? where is the opensource project/spirit in Xoops.org ?
This situation blocked the overall creativity. Many (skilled) devs are ready to help, but since there is no clear code direction, they can not.
i think we are the worldrecordman of "waste of energies". Could some put in their pocket their "ego" and start to act open?

hi,
SIMPLE XOOPS is not a FORK! It is a XOOPS 2.2.5 with Hacks (xlanguage, multisite, autologin, SMF, integrated Updater/Installer).
I had offered my support to the DEV team - > reaction was directly zero

i did not say it's a fork. i just notice that's not a normal situation, like you say :

is it normal you did not receive any answer?? that's strictly and definitely not an opensource attitude. Now, because there is no move and way to help, everyone is distributing its own release. And i do not speak about the /frameworks...
Is it too difficult to work all together? Is the total amount of tasks too small so there is no need to work collectively? I do not think it deals with skills, as we have few skilled devs (but all are leaving)... Now, can we have some news about the bottom?
