Hello Ive been hovering over the forums for a week , ive read wikis, faqs and more, I even tried everything i read about, and finally I just have to breakdown and ask.

New install
My install seems to work...
Everything seems to function...

But..when you log in and change something in the preferences, the main page goes blank (if you click out to visit the site again), afterward..the user.php, all thats realted seems to not work and it says selected module not found.

So strange. I fgure must be cache issue.
I look over..folders. Cache, template_c are all writeable.
Ive tried debugging I get nothing.

I dunno.
I installed locally and it works.
But Im using apache.

The parameters are as folows for the server Im connecting to remotely are:

Win2k3 xp
IIS 6.0
php 5.1
xoops 2.16
mysql 4.1+

Can anyone throw me a bone here?

The site is not yet accessble via the web but it should be accessible via the full url if Im connected to it remotely right? I mean why would it seem to work for awhile, then and then not?

are there any otheres sites that deal with windows and XOOPS perhaps I can find info at?

Is it the version of PHP?

It may be that modules are causing your problem. AFAIK, the core is compatible with PHP 5, but I know for sure that many modules are not. Could you list the modules you have installed, with version numbers and any PHP debug output you are getting?

HTH.

well this is just happening with the install...
so it would include the system module I guesss.

I tried a version of news...too
Again it worked..but then after update (like changing template or what not) i go back to index and its a loss.

Ive tried php debug both from xoops, fro the db, from php and from common file Im not getting any reporting (except whn im in admin and there are no errors)

Really strange. My local installation went without a hitch.

thanks..
(Im going to check the MySQL version..again.
version5 was originally on there but it was really cumbersome..so I rolled back to to like 4.2)

hey....wait a minute ...do you think it because XOOPS adds the admin user as both "registered user and webmaster" by default?

wouldnt that cause problems. I remebr that is something I noticed on my local version..

will report back on that..

Update:
that is something to check but thats not it.
Now I cant even log out.

ok..after much headaches finally figured it out I think

I did indeed have to create another folder for the site.
ie(public)

I didn have to do this on the last box I put XOOPS on. But
I dont know. its working

so its was kind of like this
F:webs/sitefoldername

which worked for me in the past...

but it appears it has to, has to be this...

F:webs/sitefoldername/public

(public=whatever name you give it)

adjustment made in IIS and wham, Couldnt figure out why it would appear to work and then not, thats why I didnt think it was a directory problem.

But then when I couldnt even get xoops.md5 to work...(file not found) I decided to try a sub folder.

Did a reinstall..
and all is good.! so far....
