I use the site http://jclist.com which I gather is a XOOPS site. Unfortunately I do not know which version or modules are being run, nor anything else about the precise system being used, but I hope someone may be able to help me nevertheless.

My problem is that forum read/unread markers get lost after a single session, once I close my browser and go back in the read markers are gone.

I have deleted all my cookies, cleared my cache etc multiple times and it does not help, the problem occurs when conecting from seeveral different machines, all of which leads me to belive it is a bug or mis-configuration of the installation.

The administrator of the site in question seems non-technical and doesn't respond to queries. I was hoping someone could suggest the likely problem and perhaps if I email this to the administrator they will fix it.

Was losing read/unread markers a known bug in any recent version? Is it likely to be a simple configuration change fix (perhaps the cookie name has not been set uniquely?). I serached this site and couldn't find anything that looked relevant.

This is a style sheet issue. The theme designer does not have a style for visited links.

Something like the following would work;
a:visited {color: #861a24; } -- would turn visited links a red color
