While checking criteria for selecting a CMS for our foundation, elsewhere on the web it is said that Xoops:

- does not support ZIP archives
- does not have a trash bin
- does not have a workflow engine
- is not XHTML compliant

Can anyone please comment on whether this is correct? Thanks for your help!

Joop.

what do you mean by wrote "trash bin"
with some XOOPS modules you can "offline" are " deactivate" items.

i think its enough to take XOOPS support this feature.

- Cbb ( forum module) after delete ( post /topic) it still remains in database.

- wfdownloads - (download module) you can offline a download

dont remember any other by now

Thanks for your comments!

Marco, is the ZIP archives support in both directions? I mean can I upload a ZIP archive to publish on the web?

Moderator, many people are using CMSmatrix as a source for selecting a new CMS. It may be worth updating the XOOPS info on ZIP archives, workflow and XHTML.

Thanks again,

Joop.

Re: CMS selection

It depends on what is meant with the term "Support ZIP archives" - what should XOOPS support here? "Upload a ZIP archive to publish on the web" means what, exactly?

Regarding workflow, the XOOPS module structure leaves a lot of autonomy to the modules, giving flexibility in exchange for looser structured content. Therefore it is up to the individual modules to grant the user a workflow (I suspect you mean something along the lines of someone submitting content, another one publishing it) - which is a rather established feature in most modules, but not centralised as in several other systems. It's the same with a "trash bin" - since content is not centralised, it is also not easy to have a centralised "trash bin" to gather deleted content for re-evaluation or purge.

XHTML compliance again depends on the modules. It is definitely possible to create XHTML valid sites with XOOPS, but individual modules can break this compliance if they are not coded properly.

It would be up to your hosting company if you can host Zip Achieves... Yet of course XOOPS does, how do you think we download modules?

Yes it has.
It's a very powerful workflow engine called xflow and you can find it Here
