Smarty got updated does that mean XOOPS may go faster?

Looking at the Smarty change log, I don't see any mention of speed improvements. But it might make XOOPS more intelligent.

Since the new version of Smarty is only a couple of days old, I'd hold off a bit before using it on a production site.

I agree with Dave that it doesn't seem to impact performance much, but "just" bugfixes.

However, I am very happy to see the XHTML compliant debug.tpl since it is annoying for me (and anyone else using the Tidy firefox plugin) to have many XHTML warnings when Smarty debug is enabled.
