Turn off the views in news1.1 & 1.44

Is it possible to turn off the view counter of the news 1.1 and 1.44 module? On a way ... But also able to turn it back on?!

i've asked the same question a couple of times on this forum and haven't got an answer...same question with myAlbum...any way of turning off views...anyone have an answer...thanks

in the file /xoops/modules/news/templates/news_item.html find this :

(<span class="itemStats"><{$story.hits}> <{$lang_reads}></span>)


and remove it !

tried it still shows the number of views...

Did you updated the module after editing the file?
You need to do this or check update templates from file in admin -> system admin -> preferences -> general. Also may need to clean template_c folder from cached files - delete all files except "index.html"
